Shanghai Chest Hospital 2^nd International Summit of Esophageal Surgery took place on 23–24 March, 2018 in Shanghai. With the theme “The survival of patient comes first”, the summit covered a series of lectures and reports on the long-term survival of modern treatment of esophageal cancer, including a variety of surgical approaches and treatment strategies used in various regions to manage the cancer in order to lay the groundwork for the future development of esophageal cancer treatment in China.
