Alper Toker was born on the 8th August 1968. He completed his high school education in Bursa, Tukey. He graduated from Marmara University, Medical School of Marmara Istanbul, 1992. He studied 5 years at Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical School, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery as a resident between 1992 and 1997. He worked mainly cardiac, vascular and lung surgery experience.
After 1997, He started to work as a chief resident at the same department. He started to work at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Istanbul Medical School, Istanbul University that was reestablished at 2001. He started the VATS thymectomy program at 2001 and VATS lobectomy program at 2005. He also started VATS thymoma surgery operations and worked on the standardization of the technique. He became a professor and director of the department of thoracic Surgery in 2009. Yet he has more than 100 papers in the PubMed with an H index of 15. He is the editor of 2 books, (Contemporary videothoracoscopic surgery, 2014 and Thymus, 2013). He started the robotic surgery program at 2011 and now it is one of the leading groups in Europe in Robotic lung surgery. He teaches VATS and Robotic surgery in and around South East Europe and Middle East countries.
He is in the council of European Society of Thoracic Surgeons from 2009 on. He ran Antalya School of ESTS as the director from 2009 to 2014. He was the president of Society at 2014-15.
Dr. Toker married from 1993 on and father of a daughter (19 year-old) and a son (9 year-old).
He currently directs Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals Thoracic Surgery Program and serves as an attending professor at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Istanbul Medical School, Istanbul University.
