Dr. Majed Refai is currently Vice Director of Thoracic Surgery Unit at Ancona and Chief of Section of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery since 2014.
Dr. Majed Refai received his BS (Bachelor of Science) degree in biology from the American University of Beirut 1988 and his MD degree from the University of Ancona, Italy, 1995. He completed his residency in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Ancona, Italy, 2001.In 2000 Dr. Refai was a clinical fellow at the Services de Chirurgie Thoracique et Cardio Vasculaire, CHU de Caen, France.
He is a Teaching Clinical Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the Thoracic Surgery Residency and General Surgery Residency at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy.
Dr. Majed Refai is author and co-author of more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals (Google Scholar H-indexed:28 and 2487 citations). Participated at several national and international meetings as a speaker, Dr. Refai is a reviewer of many scientific journals.
In 2012 Dr. Majed Refai implemented the program of Biportal VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) for major lung resections in his unit and in 2014 the Uniportal VATS for major lung resections and Thymectomy.
Dr. Refai is member of the following societies: SICT (Italian society of thoracic surgery), ESTS (Europena society of thoracic surgery) and Council Member of SIET (Italian society of Thoracic Endoscopic).
