Dr. Xavier Benoit D’Journo is a Professor of Surgery at Aix-Marseille University Medical School.
He received his medical degree from the Aix-Marseille University in 2006. He was a general surgery resident and cardiothoracic resident at the Aix-Marseille University medical school (2000-2006). He spent 6 months at the Catholic University of Leuven (2005), Belgium, in the department of Thoracic Surgery (Pr Tony Lerut) during his general surgery residency. He spent 1 year as a clinical fellow at the University of Montreal (2008), Canada, in the department of Thoracic Surgery (Dr Duranceau). He was board certified by the European Board Certified Thoracic Surgeon (FEBCTS) in 2009. He was awarded by the Brompton prize of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeon (ESTS) in 2009. He was graded Physician Doctor (Ph.D) in 2010. He joined Aix-Marseille University hospital in 2011 as an Assistant Professor. He was nominated full Professor of Surgery at Aix-Marseille University in 2013.
He is Assistant Editor for European Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Associate Editor for Diseases of Esophagus and reviewer for several surgical journals. He is member of the French Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (FSCTCV), of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery (ESTS), of the International Society for Diseases of Esophagus (ISDE) and of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He holds numerous other positions in national medical organizations. He has published over 130 articles and book chapters.
